Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. ~Proverbs 22:6

“Hello, my name is……….”
How is your summer going?  It seems like summer has two speeds at my house.  It’s either “I’m bored” or “Why aren’t we there yet?” (as we rush from place to place.)  As we take in all this season has to offer, the next is ever close.  We are so blessed in West Michigan to have many resources at our disposal.  Are you overwhelmed with planning the school year yet?  Questions like… What do I include?  What do I leave out? What’s needed for this age? What are our (spiritual/family/personal) goals this year? How do I balance school, family, work, sports, etc?  Don’t even get me started on What’s for dinner?  At some point when the thoughts are spinning so fast, it’s like, “Who am I and what was I doing?”
At church, we are in a sermon series in Ephesians entitled “Identity”.  The opening question was, “How do you introduce yourself?”  Many answers, as you can imagine, like, “A mother of 2.” “A doctor.” “A pastor.” “An engineer.” “A domestic engineer.” “A golfer,” etc.
My pastor then said,  “From your identity flows your activity.  While the answers we gave describe what we do, God defines who we are.”
You can say, “I am a son or daughter of the King.”
As you finish this season and start the next, be encouraged that in God’s design for us, He has great plans for our lives.
Ephesians 2:10 says “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
In His Love,
Jeanine Sweet, T.H.E.O. Secretary
