When this time of year comes around, many homeschooling families are getting a little tired. We’ve been working hard all school year, and we may have been sick, we may have had personal difficulties, we may have encountered financial challenges, or any number of other possibilities. It’s the perfect time to complain.
But wait! Wait upon the Lord, that is. He knows what we’re going through. He kept up a grueling agenda as he tried to teach the world to love, to believe, to trust, to encourage one another. He got up early and dealt with stubborn, wishy-washy, legalistic people. He had to teach, correct, and heal them. And they kept calling Him, “Master, Master, Master!”
Sound familiar? We have to deal with our own and our children’s attitudes. We have to teach, correct and help them get better when they get sick or hurt. And we keep hearing, “Mom, Mom, Mom!”
But now let’s segue to the next scene. We become strong! We soar high above the mountains of difficulty! We run [errands] and arrive home less weary. We walk [through the day’s lessons] and don’t feel like we’re going to faint.
How does this happen? It happens when we wait on the Lord. Surely if we can wait as long as we have this winter for spring to reveal itself, we can wait for our Precious Lord to renew our strength. We can do this!
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
~Isaiah 40:31 KJV

LOOKING TO SUMMER
It would be great to have some fun summer events for our THEO families this year. If you have some great ideas that you would like to share with us, please contact Davine Calkins at email@example.com or Dawn Snuffer at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will help you coordinate making these events happen.
We are planning on having Bon-fires with Gaga ball once a month again this summer. As we get closer, we will determine when they will be, so stay tuned to the newsletter for more information. If you think at anytime that you missed the information, feel free to contact Dee Bradfield (231)766-2841 or email@example.com.
HOMESCHOOL BOOK STORE
Looking for three types of volunteers:
*Someone to help Cindy with sorting new donations and cleaning up shelves. We have a lot of new consignment and donated books to put on the shelves. Plus we need to do some weeding through the books already on the shelves. This a great opportunity to get store credit towards curriculum for the volunteer’s home school needs. It’s also an opportunity for a high school student to come in and get some service hours. This person could come in on any Thursday afternoon, between 2 and 5.
*Someone to fill in when Cindy is unavailable. This is a bigger challenge, but not too big for any mom looking for store credit or just an opportunity to serve the home school community. We have a lot of really good curriculum, and this volunteer would have first dibs! She could serve on any Tuesday or an occasional Thursday afternoon between 2 and 5.
*A high school student who would like some credit in writing or a mom who just likes to write. Cindy needs someone willing to write the monthly newsletter that goes to THEO and is e-mailed to many moms who are not a part of THEO. This volunteer could come down to the store on any Thursday afternoon between 2 and 5 and get some suggestions for the monthly newsletter.
If you’re interested in any of the above volunteer positions, please contact Cindy Stevens at 231-343-4999, 231-788-2689 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
Character Sketches by Institute in Basic Life Principles

Financial Peace University
Brand New and Updated Coming this Fall
Financial Understanding and knowledge are imperative as we launch our children into their futures. Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace for High School students is a high quality, informative and practical tool to give your student the equipping they need.
Davine Calkins will once again be teaching this course on Tuesdays in her home starting in September. We will be using his just newly released, updated Financial Peace program as well as the book “Principle of the Path” by Andy Stanley. Cost of class is $125 plus the purchase of Principle of Path.
I have been teaching this course for several years and have gone through the program myself. I will also be using practical examples of our journey through financial difficulty and the many ways that God has provided as we have set out to honor him while using these principles. I will teach your students what we always wished we had been taught. This is a hands on practical approach that they will be using in high school and as they move on to college or the workforce.
